DashMode Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

DashMode does not collect personal information. There is no account to create, nothing is uploaded to RezPoint, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software.

The only information DashMode stores is kept on your device:

• Lyric sheets for songs you have played, cached as files in the app's own temporary storage
• Your app preferences, including theme, lyrics display and text size, playlist sort order, and whether the screen stays awake

DashMode does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location, and it does not create or use any advertising or device identifier.

Apple Music and Your Library

With your permission, DashMode uses Apple's MusicKit framework to read your Apple Music library and play music. This includes your songs, playlists, albums, and artists, results from searching the Apple Music catalog, and the current playback state needed to display what is playing.

Playback requires an active Apple Music subscription. DashMode reads your library only to display and play it; it does not add, edit, remove, or otherwise modify anything in your library, and it does not copy your library to any server.

Your use of Apple Music is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Microphone and Voice Search

Typing while driving is unsafe, so DashMode lets you search by voice. The microphone is used only while you have started dictation, and listening stops as soon as you finish speaking or tap the button again.

Speech is converted to text using Apple's Speech Recognition framework, which may process audio on Apple's servers and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. DashMode uses the resulting text to fill the search field and then discards it. The app does not save recordings, does not write audio to disk, and does not transmit audio or transcripts to RezPoint or any other third party.

Lyrics

Apple does not provide a lyrics API, so DashMode requests lyrics from LRCLIB (lrclib.net), a free community lyrics database. This is the only request DashMode makes to a service outside of Apple.

To find the right lyric sheet, the app sends only information about the track itself: the track title, artist name, album name, and duration, along with a header identifying the request as coming from DashMode and its version number. No account, user identifier, device identifier, or other personal information is sent, and LRCLIB is not told who is listening.

Lyrics that are found are cached on your device so replaying a song works instantly and without a network connection, which matters in a car where connectivity comes and goes.

How We Use Information

Information is used only to run the app on your device, specifically to:

• Play music and manage the playback queue
• Browse and search your library and the Apple Music catalog
• Fill the search field from your voice instead of the keyboard
• Find and display synced lyrics for the current song
• Remember your theme, lyrics, and sorting preferences between launches
• Keep the display awake while the device is docked on a dash mount

Third-Party Services

DashMode relies on the following services to operate:

• Apple Music and MusicKit, which provide your library, catalog search, and music playback
• Apple Speech Recognition, which converts your speech to text for voice search
• LRCLIB, which supplies lyrics for the song that is playing

Each of these services is governed by its own privacy policy. DashMode does not use any analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or attribution service.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your information, and we have no servers that receive it. Nothing is shared beyond the services described above, and nothing is used for advertising, marketing, tracking, profiling, or data mining.

Data Storage and Security

Cached lyrics and your preferences are stored inside DashMode's own sandboxed container on your device, protected by the standard iOS app sandbox and device security such as your passcode and encryption.

The lyrics request to LRCLIB is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

Data Retention and Deletion

Cached lyrics are kept in the app's temporary storage, which iOS may clear on its own when the device needs space. Your preferences are kept until you change them.

Deleting DashMode from your device removes all cached lyrics and preferences it created. Because the app has no account and no backend, there is nothing stored on a server for us to delete.

Your Choices

• You choose whether to grant Media & Apple Music, Microphone, and Speech Recognition access when the app asks
• You can review or revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings
• Declining or revoking Apple Music access means DashMode cannot browse or play your music
• Declining or revoking Microphone or Speech Recognition access disables voice search only; the rest of the app continues to work and you can still search by typing
• You can delete the app to remove every file and preference it stores on your device

Children's Privacy

DashMode is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to the app, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version and its effective date will be posted on this page.
